peaches.................

I wanted to can all the peaches I bought this year from Utah but the days kept passing and the fruit fly population kept growing so I knew I needed to take care of them super quick. My sister told me that you can just fill your sink with ice water and let the peaches sit for a bit and then put them in boiling water for 30 to 60 seconds and the skin will just split off. It worked like a charm. I sliced them up and sprinkled a bit of fruit fresh in a zip lock bag. I made sure to squish all of the air out before freezing them. They are ready for peach cobbler, making jam or being a fruit topper. I am sure most of you know this trick for peaches but for those who are newly domesticating themselves- I thought it was worth posting.

Seems pretty basic and pretty easy. How did you slice the peaches without making a ginormous mess, and still keeping the form intact?

I have always done it the opposite way, boil for about a minute and then immediately put into ice water to stop the cooking.

So, I came across your blog from just looking around and I love all the creative things that you come up with. I was taking a stab at the fabric bows and I am wondering what you used to tie them together in the middle and how you hid that? Did you hot glue a gem in the middle? How did it hide the wire all the way around? I guess I just need a little more direction and was wondering if you could help me out... I would appreciate it! Thanks, Jenna

I am doing a fairy skirt in black and yellow for a bumble bee costume for my little girl. How did you fasten or connect the elastic when the skirt was complete? Thanks as always for your inspiration and fantastic ideas!!

In an attempt to answer everyones questions I will take them all one at a time: Janelle- It was a big mess! the peaches are still in tact and not mushy or anything so they stayed intact just fine when I cut them. Heather- That is exactly what my friend does and I think both methods work because it is the drastic temp change that makes the skin come off.Jenna- I did hot glue the gem in the middle and I only used the wire in the middle. you just have to play with it. Lani- You sew the elastic together before you sew up the section of fabric that you left open in order to put the elastic in. Sorry I am not really good at explaing sewing projects due to the fact that I am a beginner myself. Hope this answers everyone's questions!
