picture frame tray.............

You can really go crazy with this simple project. A lovely tray to journal on, eat a snack or store your perfume and jewelry. I am sure mine will end up being a catch all for the junk that accumulates each day. My mother in law has a tray like this in her guest room made out of an old window and I have always loved it. While surfing different craft sites I found a great DIY project that makes trays out of Picture frames and drawer pulls. I was ecstatic! I made this tray with a floating frame where there is glass on both sides however I think you could really use any type of frame. You can put pictures, fabric, pretty paper, and even pressed flowers. The possibilities are endless. The instructions are via Design Sponge

Project: Picture Frame Tray
Supply List:
-11×14 double glass picture frame (the kind that makes the object inside appear to be floating)- 2 to 4 inch handles ( I used the kind that are attached from the underside)-Something fairly flat to place inside the frame
Instructions:
-On the short sides of the frame measure from the middle to determine where to attach the handles.-Using a drill bit the diameter of the handle screws, drill holes to attach the handles.-Screw in each handle.-Prepare the object to be placed inside. I used a thin kitchen towel, so I pressed it before placing inside. Place inside and secure back of frame tightly. If your frame (like mine) has fasteners that are not recessed, you will want to avoid hard surfaces. This can be solved by recessing the handle holes and fasteners. Any picture frame with a flat border wide enough to attach handles will work, it does not need to be the floating kind. This idea can be used to make an whole range of different looks based on the frame and handles chosen.

Love the idea! Is the finished product something you can take apart again? For example, could I put a normal piece of fabric or scrapbook paper in, and then switch it out at Christmastime for something that matches the holiday decor?
