This project is the same idea as the Headboard. You can make a simple cushion for a coffee table or a bench by using a piece of wood, fabric and some quilt batting. I made the black bench for the foot of my bed out of my sister in laws old coffee table and the green drawers that hold the kids shoes in my entry now has a place for them to sit comfortably while putting on shoes. In doing this project I uncovered one of the best kept secrets at Home Depot! It turns out that there is a thing called the "Cull" cart in the wood section that is filled with scraps of quality wood. If you find pieces that have green spray paint on them- it will only cost you 55 cents no matter what the size!- Are you kidding me? I had to share this because so many people are so good at sharing their secrets with me. I always have Home Depot cut the boards to the size I need and then I just use my trusty staple gun to cover the wood. I finish off the project by using Velcro to attach it to the furniture piece. Since I am not to great at sewing- this works great for me!
