a little home away from home....
Most of you know I am big on having a place for everything.......That is my number one reason for going crazy for this scarf with pockets (and the fact it is FAAREEZING outside!) I found this on Martha Stewart. I want to make some for the kids because I like the idea of having a pocket for stuffed animals and gloves. Plus it looks like a super easy project.A little love for the house..........

Here are a couple of Valentine decorations Livia and I have made for our house. I love this holiday........It always seems after I take the Christmas all down that our house feels empty. I am always glad to have a reason to put some fun things back up again! The red hot flower arrangement idea came from Family Fun. It is a way inexpensive project. (buy red hots at Walgreens for the biggest bang for your buck) The flowers at Walmart and Dollar Tree are the least expensive I have found. I hot glued some plastic plates I bought at Target onto the tin ceiling tile for a little love in the living room. Livia made the beautiful tissue paper heart for our gallery board. Many more ideas to come. ......around my house...

Not the best pictures- but these days I just take what I can get. I have been freshening things up around the house and getting LOTS of color spread around. The middle picture is my place mat valances that are super easy to do. Just bought the little clippy things at wall mart and layered some place mats I got on sale @ Pier 1. I also bought a new duvet cover at IKEA for hardly anything at all and brightened up out room a bit (pictures of master bedroom curtains are on the way) I really like decorating with the color orange. I know it has been hit or miss lately on this blog and I apologize! It is not that I am not inspired- i am just TIRED! I can create but not take the time to blog it seems.

the newsboy cap................

My mom crochets some of the most amazing things! I had to post these adorable Newsboy Caps she recently made for the kids and I. Every one has been asking how my mom can make one for them and their kiddos so here is how: She recently (after I basically forced her) set up a blog to show her projects and she has decided to offer her e-mail address so she can do custom orders for people. She also has attachable accessories that she makes for the hats like flowers and such. here is the link to her blog: http://lindyscrochetedcreations.blogspot.com/ make sure you take a looksie! Since the extent of my crocheting depends on how far the "Knifty Knitter" can take me- i am always amazed at my Mom's creations.
my love for Mr. Krylon............

I have to admit that I have been working hard on trying to make due with supplies I find around my house. I am the queen of overspending (hubcap can verify this fact) so I am trying out my way of reusing and refurbishing what I already have. I like to refer to it as "shopping in my house". There is something to be said for the satisfaction I feel when I redo something in my house and achieve a whole new look for a few bucks. I am planning on sharing some of my projects in upcoming posts. I am starting it off with admitting to my secret affair with spray paint. Seriously this has to be one of the most inexpensive ways to update your home! I went to town with accessories in my home recently in an attempt to brighten up my house. My next job is to do a Laundry room makeover with only allowing a paint budget. I am posting an example of updating with spray paint and I hope to post more this week if I can get my rear in gear and finish some curtains I have in the works.........

blanket envy..........

I started this blanket a while back after spotting Jana with one at a t-ball game. It was love at first sight I tell you........... Now I just need to finish the dang thang. I also need to get one of those "baby type things" to wrap up in it. Is it weird that I make baby things for a baby I am not even pregnant with yet? Just a little bit I think.................................................A must have.......................

Now please know that if I am invited to your baby shower I won't necessarily show up with a handmade gift. Just because I love crafting does not mean I am good at it- my stuff usually falls apart after the first washing............. My sis bought this book for me and it is amazing. It is filled to the brim with amazing projects. It even rates the level of difficulty for each one. I love their butterfly hat because the butterfly pops off to be used as a toy- how smart is that?!
tempting........

I saw these little kid's upholstered chairs at Ross today. It just isn't fair- I am broke as a joke and I have the "WANTS" so bad that this is just some cruel joke to find matching chairs like this. They are PINK even...............should I just go back and get them? NO!- I can't- I have promised my honey "no more frivolous spending".......what if I never find something like this again? Please someone go buy them right now so I will no longer be tempted....................
felt headbands...........

I love these little felt headbands from louandlee@etsy.com. I have tried my hardest to recreate these little masterpieces and have yet to achieve the desired results. That is why I broke down today and ordered one..... It will be too cute for Liv's cranium.................
better after..........

THIS fab blog featured my bench on it! I would look at this site all day. I love the idea of having a bunch of before and afters at my fingertips for inspiration.............Wednesday, September 2, 2009
tooth fairy......

Livia is at the age where teeth are being lost all around her (Oh the joys of being 5) She so very badly wants to score some cash from the tooth fairy and I am now catching her pushing on her teeth in hopes they will become loose! When I was younger we had little pillows to place our teeth in when we went to bed at night. When we awoke in the morning the tooth fairly had left our money in the pocket. I decided to make one for Livia out of some scraps I had. It was super easy. I was going to lie and tell you Livia sewed the pocket because of how bad my seamstress skills are but when all was said and done, I believe it made it all the more charming. I like the real handmade look sometimes. Believe me, your kids will love these and always remember them- I know I sure do............Monday, August 31, 2009
a petal party

The most fun! My darling Di organized a petal party for 20 mothers of little girls. We each had to supply a flower clip making station and the end result was 20 glue guns and beautiful hair accessories for our little angels. We each had to pick a color and supply enough materials for 20 of the exact hair flower. Not only was this party a laugh a minute (Late at night parties bring out the funny- let's face it) but it was productive as well. I recommend everyone organize a petal party with their friends. You will not be disappointed with the end result. Di made the cute bow holder boards out of place mats and ribbon- LOVE it!Friday, June 12, 2009
summer fun....super easy..........

I loved these two ideas for turning old T-shirts into cover ups for the pool and beach. There is nothing more lovely than my husbands soft worn out T-shirts. I could live in them! I hope he won't mind when he finds out I have converted them into something only fit for my wardrobe.........Click here for the halter top and Click Here for the cover up!

cooking comfort

Another sweet little project for keeping your favorite recipes in a safe place or to share as a gift. I can get lost in Anna Maria's blog with all of her colors and ideas. I think the best part of her is that she has 5 kids and one on the way and still makes a point to stay creative. Love it. Click here to make this cute little holder.
